Good to know about Balanan Lake
Balanan Lake is a freshwater lake situated in the mountains of Siaton, Negros Oriental. In 1925 the lake was formed by an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 on the Richter scale. This earthquake was followed by a huge landslide that created a natural dam across the Balanan River, causing the water to rise.
The lake is 285m above sea level. In the East it is bounded by the Balanan mountain range and in the West by the Nasig-id mountain range. The Southern part is an open area.

Today the area around the Balanan Lake is truly amazing. Experience pure nature, totally off the beaten track. No annoying sounds, no hectic and stress. Spend some relaxing time in this little paradise, listen to the sounds of nature and watch locals take harvested bananas to the other side of the river to sell them for some money.
