Good to know about Cebu
Cebu Island is situated in the Visayas. It is located to the east of Negros, to the west of Leyte and Bohol Islands, about 588km (365 miles) south of Manila and it belongs to the Central Visayas Region. In 2010 Cebu´s population was about 4.16 Mio people .

The capital is Cebu City which is the oldest City of the Philippines as well as the center of commerce, trade, education and industry in the Visayas.

The official language is “Cebuano” which is also spoken on islands like Bohol, Leyte or some parts of Negros and some areas in the South. About 20 Mio people all over the Philippines speak Cebuano.

On Cebu you can find a relatively moderate climate with no distinct wet or dry season. This makes the island a perfect holiday destination all year round with temperatures ranging from 23 to 33 degrees Celsius or 73 to 91 degrees Fahrenheit. In January you experience the coolest, in May the warmest temperatures.

There are many places on Cebu which are worth seeing. Especially divers love to go to Moalboal or Malapascua. Bantayan Island is another perfect place to relax, very much liked by many tourists.

Every year there are more than 40 festivals all over Cebu. One of them is the well-known Sinulog Festival which is celebrated every 3rd Sunday in January in Cebu City in honor of Señor Sto Niño de Cebu.
